Janitor Ed

Just finished my first week as the "site supervisor" of a primary school.

I work for a large building and property management company based in the north of England. They built several schools through PFI's and sort of rent them back to the local education authorities.

The school is 7 years old but only looks 1 year old, the head moans that a large part of her budget gets eaten up by the arrangement, but all she has to do is look at equivalent schools owned and maintained by local education authorities and she'll see that the building she has is far superior in design, build and upkeep.

It's the early starts that will get to me if anything does. I work a split shift 07:30 - 11:30 then 14:30 - 18:00. That means up at 06:30 and out at 07:00.
That's quite a shock after the last two and a bit years of getting up at the crack of midday and doing whatever the hell I fancied.

Maybe I'll win the lotto and can retire again.

A man can dream....

One last thing err I go.

DEATH TO JEDWARD!!!

oh alright, just send them back to Ireland after banging their heads together.

Happy Birthday T

Today T is a little bit younger, so to celebrate we went to two of her favourite places,

first was her mum and dad's caravan for about 20 mins (we where on our way to her favourite place), then it was on to the...

...Orme.
Don't let the photo's fool you about the weather,

There was some nice colours to look at in the growing things, don't know what it is but it looked nice enough, sharp tho',

The views are stunning (on a good day)

J had a new hair cut today and you'd think it was the end of the world, but I think it looks very nice, despite the wind,
B had a hair cut too and so decided to strike a pose in an exotic location, unfortunately we could only take him here,

I did some weight lifting...

And we found this Roman well while out on our stroll, neat or what?

Here's a couple of video clips for you to experience the day as we did,

It was nice and we did have a good day, but bloody hell that place needs a bit more wind doesn't it?!

Geting there

Hi,

Got a night at home, well my place. Home is getting to be more and more where Tracy is than where I am.

Got to take dad for his chemo tomorrow at Clatterbridge hospital, so I'm staying at mine so that I don't have to get up at silly O'clock tomorrow morning drive from Neston to Wallasey then to Clatterbridge so that we can get thru' rush hour and get him there on time for his dose of jollop at 09:20. Look it up on Google maps, I did. Now it's no surprise about the miles I was doing on an L plate and why this car has not long left in this world

So this evening I've been in the kitchen and in front of the mac looking at photos and vid clips (some with sound and others without). Getting rid of the blury but keeping in some that you would probably bin. All this is for a slide snow that I'll be putting on DVD for the family, the rest of you will have to content yourselves with about 5 from each of the groups I kept, with the occasional vid clip.

But just to keep you going...

I know T is going to mince me for this....

But it's no worse than this one. This photograph has familiar (to me) people who have suddenly morphed into "Jake the peg" and one of Zaphods mothers, see if you can spot them...

...it's uncanny.

Now before I go here is something that looks prety but is evil and so very wrong, I took this vid during a change in driving. I almost needed driving lessons again on our return to the UK. And don't get me started about roundabouts!!!

Back from France and a new phone to boot

Got the nokia 5800 and loving it, except for this months bill, but the nice man at Vodafone sorted it out and took off 33.23 quid of a 47 quid one that I got from surfing the net on said device when I was told it would be free, they forgot to tell me it was free only in the UK! But it's all better now.

And now here's a pic I took with my new toy. It was taken from the garden of the villa we stayed at in Laurabuc in the south of France, the place we stayed at was called La Periole.

Bigger post to come when I've edited the pics and got my mac. Doing this on the 5800.

Ubuntu headaches

It's only taken two days to get the wireless internet connection working again on what was one of my PC type laptops, thanks to me updating to the latest version of Ubuntu. But at least it's working now and the headaches I got where free, unlike the old days where when things didn't work it was down to Bill and his flying monkeys. One thing tho', the help pages and forums I went to for help getting the wireless working where written by brainy peeps, for brainy peeps, not for enthusiastic amateurs like me. It was like they where speaking in code.... Oh! They where.

Next task is to get DVD's to play

I won't be getting rid of the MAC just yet, on the up side I don't need two computers runing now that I can get on line with this one. Well that's something I supose.

DRIVING

LICENCE!

The 'L' plates are gone...

..."poor old Ed's free of them at last!"

I actually passed my test on the 21st of last month but I've been waiting for the licence to hit the mat before telling the wide world. Even the "green P's" only lasted a week before I binned them.
People see the L or P plates and decide to treat you like a T*£T! and cut you up and worse, so it was off with their heads and now I'm up and down the motorway on my own with impunity.

Everyone said,
"You wait till you start driving on your own! You'll shit yer self!"

Not a bit of it. I was driving on my own the afternoon of my test.

Now let me tell you this, I did need a bit of help on the motorway stuff and thanks go to my beloved Tracy for the help and encouragement she gave me. 'Luckily' we have a motorway going right through the Wirral, so I'm getting lots of practice. For example, today I did over 70 miles going between mine and Clatterbridge, Tracy's and mine.

And seeing as I haven't been any where exotic I've managed to do over 614 miles since the 21st of last month, so what's that been 23 days? So that's 26.696 miles per day, going nowhere. Sounds daft really.

Did have a week at the caravan last week and I got to use Tracy's Honda Odyssey all week. So there is at least another 400 miles. We tend to get out and about and USE our Welsh heritage membership to see castles and to the full when we go to the 'van.

Two things I have come to believe about this driving lark and they are:-

  1. The test is a peice of piss (both parts(three is you count the hazard perception section as a seperate entity)).
  2. If I keep doing it I may get the hang of this driving lark

Safe driving and don't have nightmares.

I'm off for a few beers

Vids from the caravan May bank holiday 2009

Getting very lazy in my old age, here are some vid clips taken on the phone from this bank holiday at the caravan, or trailer if you hark from the U.S of A.

It shows J and B with a couple of kids they met up with again.

Also shows a nice recovery by J on the carts and a not so successful one by B.

And why oh why oh why oh why oh why aren't big kids like me allowed on the bouncy castle slide?

It's just not fair!

I have one more vid to show and tell that's unrelated to Wales and caravans, I'll show you soon.

Pucker up Bill....

I finally did it, it's taken a very long time but I finally did it.

After years of threatening to do it I done it.

I got rid of Windows(tm) and installed Ubuntu on my PC laptop.

It looks like I now have two macs but only when you look at what's on the screen as the mac is sleek and stylish and the PC isn't.

Still haven't got the built in web cam working and I can't play oblivion but it's a small price to pay when you consider that I plugged my mac formatted iPod in, just for shits and giggles and it recognised it and I can move files across to and from it.

So Mr Gates can kiss the fattest part of my arse.

Yay for Ubuntu.

Lines from my DS lite

If this works it'll be a blody miracle.
