It's just been one big GEEKFEST....

.... here today. Great!

Not being able to move too far from home today due to an upset tum. So I had a tech day and loved it. I managed to:-

  • sell one of my many laptops
  • get the correct version of the software for my two zen's and install it with no drama
  • delete my entire music collection
  • re-rip my entire music collection
  • and finally sort out my new play lists. Nice.

Anyway enough of this twaddle!

Have a blisteringly good night, a fab 2007* and for those who had their new years earlier, enjoy the hangover.

*= unless you're up to no good, in that case I hope you get a rash of some sort.

24

Yes that's the number of hours I got new year out by.

I text(ed) a whole bunch of peeps I like a LOT to wish them a happy new year.

AND WOKE THEM ALL UP!!!!

CRAP! CRAP!! CRAP!!! CRAAAAAAAP!!!!!!!!!

It will sort of take the edge of tomorrows text don't you think.

I am a worm.

and not one of the nice ones.

Actually this is me in the middle of a Field. I'm not a horse and I'm not a donkey, what am I.

you got it!

I
AM
AN
ASS.

I'll never live this down. Some of them have kids, for god's sake. I'm a dead man when I get back to work.
At least the pain will be over reasonably quickly!

In mitigation, for some reason my computers are all on the same time, i.e. 01/01/07.
I'll sort it out and it'll never happen again.

There I've ripped it up, you'll never have to see it again!

Who will rid me of this turbulent...

...ex-dictator

Hopefully the people he treated so badly. Lets just hope it's not a couple of drunken knights(squadies).

And here's to a great civil war in iraq. It'll certainly blow the cobwebs out. I know. We had two.

The end

Here we are looking at the end of another year, something we should all be greatfull for I supose. Lots of milestones passed for everyone, some good ones and some bad ones (more bad than good it seems to me). But on the up side:-

  1. I just linked a laptop via a crossover cable to my desktop sharing a wireless link to access the web without registering the laptop on the wireless network. More luck than judgement.

  2. Sadam will be a bad memory in a short while thanks to a swift post apeals justice system in Iraq.

  3. And my pan that was of late dead is back to life and as good as new. Hurahh!

What do you think of this still life?

and this one.

Mushroom soup?

All in all it's been a good day, dinner at big sis's house, we all got wedged, everyone got some cool stuff and now I'm home and thinking what the hell am I going to to with the half a hundred weight of mushrooms I bought the other day before they rot down to a ghastly mulch on top of the fridge.

Nephew got a PSP off his M+D, he was made up and so was I, he can keep his little paws off mine now. Honestly it's a good job I've got a few spare batteries as he manages to wipe them out each time he visits (I don't really mind). I have no reason to complain as I have two PSP's anyhow. I got him a dock for his psp and in typical form the stuff that I buy doesn't work. The earphone , power and control jacks on the dock are poorly positioned and so the psp doesn't sit down correctly and thus there is no sound, this bites.
And for my next trick I will attempt to return a poorly designed lump of plastic without the aid of a receipt. (I think I shredded it along with all sorts of other highly shreddable bits of paper the other day, curses!)

Done the phone-a-thon and text-a-thon to wish everyone a merry Christmas and the only peeps I couldn't contact was Nobby and K. I think they're at his folks for xmas with A. I shall leave a suitably witty and mildly offensive text for him to read later, if I can think of one that is.

As for the mushrooms, well I think I've reached that time in my life when I should be making mushroom soup, I'll make the soup, have a bowl of it for supper and freeze the rest for later. There, a plan. Actually I think I'll add some of the celery I've got to the soup, that should work
Wish me luck.

Christmas day nasty

Cheers Kathy for introducing me to what has to be the most dubious looking of crustaceans.
I'm not a fan of shell fish and the like but after reading the linked page I'm even less of a fan. In fact I'll probably have difficulty eating my Christmas day lunch in a few hours.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not scolding or having a go at you, I just thought that a thing so icky has to be shared on the main page and not in the comments box.
Again, thank you and enjoy the rest of the holiday, it's just a pity I have no similar disgusting link to send to you.
TTFN.

here are the links for all to share, marvelous.

It's just gone 12 on xmas day....

....and now I can open my prezzies from gitchops and bird from darn sarf.

Chili nuts!!!! these are going back with me so we can all enjoy them at the next chili night, hot damn!!

Little yellow bottle that looks like a bike drink bottle, hmmm.(read, read, read).
Good lord, it's moisturising cream with the word "lube" at the end of it(worryingly). Apparently it's for my (scabby) bald head.COOL!!!

CHILI JAM! CHILI JAM!!!!
This isn't Xmas! I've obviously died and gone to chili heaven.
Chili jam and Cheshire cheese sarnies now heave into view on my culinary range, bloody hell it's hot!

I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH (sniff)

I don't deserve such friends. Have a good time with Your nearest and dearest. See you sooner than you think, bye bye.

A truly sad day for mankind

http://uk.360.yahoo.com/mon452

Yes, it doesn't roll off the tongue, does it.

This is my new address. Don't get me wrong, I'm keeping blogger. For now at least.

I'll never forget my time with blogger. You never forget your first, do you?

To OLPP and PK, I'll still look for wooly things to post for you both, should you pass by my new gaff.

Karen You will always be welcome, as will anonymous ASH.

To everyone else......

....MY KINGDOM.

Firefox

Just put firefox on one of the laptops and so far so good, just playing with it for now. I'll get round to putting it on the other computers soon enough.

Having trouble with the wireless connection at the mo, like it's not there...

Home for the holidays (hurah)...

...but with shopping still to be done (huroo).

Hi to Kathy.

I think you are (all) correct, that I.E. Bites the big fella and Mozilla is the only viable solution.

That being said, I'll probably stick with blogger till the new year, just to see what happens really.

A big hello to "anonymous" ASH.

I got home with no major dramas on the trains, and on time too. Getting home on time came as a surprise due to all that fog shrouding the entire country, it looked (before the sun went down) as if the day had been cancelled due to lack of interest.

Got back to find some more mail on the mat, well it would be on the mat if I had one, anyway there they where four envelopes and only one addressed to me and that was a gas bill. one of them was for my lil sister's ex husband (prize git) the other for big sis's husband (TOP BLOKE), so he gets his without the aid of a shredder and the final one was for a couple I've never heard of and probably wont either. That reminds me I keep getting mail for some vicar type that lives a few miles away in a road with a slightly similar sounding name, if English isn't you first language, must have a chat with the (is it still the royal) mail. AGAIN!!

Yes, once again I apologise for my throwing of stones whilst currently residing in a glass residing thing. I know my spelling is bad and my grasp of grammar is somewhat unique, but I can at least read the address on a bloody envelope. (breathe in, breathe out, etc.)

Just tried out the chippie up the road, it's under new management, the shop changed hands in March this year and this is the first time I've used it since, normally I'd cook but I just couldn't be bothered, even heating something up didn't appeal, so the chippie it was.

  • chips general 8/10
  • chips amount 15/10 (very large portions still)
  • curry sauce 7.5/10 (still miles better than any found darn sarf)
  • fish cakes 1.2E+43/10 (home made and well worth the wait, huge and lovely)

So here I am typing this rot with a very full belly, those who know me will probably gasp at that last bit as it's quite a belly to be very full with, and now I'm going to sign off for today and open the free calender I got from the new owner of the local chippie.

Ahhhh, it's got cute little aminals on it, photo evidence tomorrow.

Blogger has just made my list...

To kill some time in between cooking a chili and doing a mountain dishes, I thought I'd crack open a bottle of wine and trawl some random blogs. You wouldn't believe what I've seen, no hang on, if you're reading this you probably would.

Anyway one blog was "Katie in the kitchen", short but sweet, literally. The next was some loon and a chum absailing into a vast cave, good lord they where high up! It made the soles of my feet tingle just looking at the phot.
Now to the point of this drivel. I wanted to comment on them, one of congratulations and one mentioning that counseling is available. But blogger had other ideas, as soon as the publish comment buton was pressed, quick as a flash NOTHING HAPPENS, and continued not to happen for 10 mins.
Is anyone else having this annoying thing happening. Also can't watch the video clips people post of themselves, I need my fix of stoopid people hurting themselves in amusing and ever inventive ways.
And it's for those reasons that blogger has made my list.

Anyone know of a different host for blogs?

And the spell checker now has some rather odd tilt on the English language (as bad as my own).

the agony (of choice!)

"Happy it's not your birthday day, here have a present" day is nearly upon us and the only peeps I'm sorted with are some friends and mum and dad. Ordinarily dad would be livid that friends came before family, that is his wont, it's just that I know my friends better than I know my own family. Sad but horribly true.
As it happens I'm test driving (sort of ) mum's presie, as I talk to you. Those of you who just had rude thoughts, log off now and wash your brain with acid!!! PERVERTS!!
If you must know it's........
(Yhea like I'm gonna say this close to "Happy it's not your birthday day, here have a present" day, what she's getting)

Took out a grand from the bank today to get gifts and stuff. No F idea. Got home with 0.87K. Huge suckfest.

Look I'm an engineer, not the great Kreskin, and therefore have no imagination (especialy when it comes to gifts), so I ask direct. It would seem that my genes are not the only ones missing the "I KNOW WHAT TO GET YOU", bit.

If someone doesn't squeek soon, it's lumps of coal all round! All I've got to do is find a working coal mine in the U.K. May as well figure out what 22/7 comes out at in decimal form is. (answers on a postcard).

The clock is ticking....

Just got 3 mins left on this time code, just a quick note that I'll be trying to escape from the south again this week, my tickets have arrived by recorded delivery, ordered them over the tinternet.
Pray for calm weather and wish me luck.
Out.

Apathy, Good Manners and a loss of connection

Hi it's me again.
I sort of fell off the edge for a while there but with luck I'll be posting again with a bit more frequency from now on.
The thing is that during the week, while I'm at work my access to the internet is zero, unless I want to go to the internet cafe {this is where the apathy comes in} but I just think to myself, "can't be arsed". Then there is the weekend and Saturday in partiular, this sees me at a friends house cooking the weekly chillie (in the summer we bar-b-q and he cooks that) and it just seems to me to be slightly bad form to say that seeing as the chillie is on simmer now I'm off upstairs to use your computer for the next hour or so just so I can update my blog {that's the good manners part}.
So I decided to make the effort and to use the internet cafe on my way back to barracks after work, only to discover a closed cafe containing one irate owner and a confused looking BT engineer {loss of connection bit}. So my lack of blog activity this past month isn't all my fault, much.
Now there are probably some of you out there thinking, "well how did he get this post done after what he just said?". Easy I threw out my good manners and decided to use my friends computer, handing him the large wooden spoon so that he can take over the job of periodicly stiring the chillie, lest it stick to the bottom of the pan and earn him a flogging (something his missus would no doublt deliver as she looks forward to chillie night just as much as the rest of us).

Joined the rest of the human race the other week and got a credit card(Gasp!), well I had to thanks to work, I'll explain.
Work used to give me a rail warrant (one a month) that I could exhange for a return trip home, all well and good. Now they don't thanks to a new admin system that they have bought. Now we have to soort out our own travel, claims, leave and stuff. Something we haven't had to do in such depth before and one of the upshots is the loss of the warrants, now they claim to pay into your pay account a daily rate of milage that will be enough for not one but two return trips home on the train. Only some of the preceeding statement is true, can you guess what bit that may be? Anyone? Yes you got it "for not one". The total amount paid in is £40 short of one return ticket if bought on the day of travel.
So you don't have to be a maths whiz to figure that the company (I say company as that is what the Royal Navy has been turned into, R.N. Plc) is saving a fortune at the expence of its men and women. (breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out)
Any way the upshot is that I was told by one of the admin types that I could get cheap deals by booking tickets over the internet, so I had to get a credit card or pay through the nose each time I wished to see my loved ones in the grim north.
Have card, can book, did book,TORNADO, London, no trains to the grim north, stuck darrn saff. It's just as well that the company is good otherwise I'd have to go mad1 and probably mad2.
But ever the optomist I'm going to book some more tickets in the hope that there will be trains again (to the north) on the route that I will be booking them.
One fool in a hat solomly informed me that he could get me on a train to Shefield, but I would have to stay over night before getting a connection to Liverpool, this was at Euston and the poor man must have been close to a nervous breakdown caused by thousands of people asking him how they where to get home with all the train cancelations beacause that has to be the reason why he wished me to stay overnight in Shefield. Git!

Is it just me or am I leaving it too late to do all my xmas shopping?
It is just me isn't it.

Anyhoo, bye for now I'm off to shop on line with my new plastic, wish me luck.

P.S. Hi to OLPP and PK
