Every year around this time the Earth moves through the tail of the comet Swift-Tuttle and if you're lucky enough not to live in this cloud bound country, you are treated to quite a light show.
The show being caused by the tiny particles from the comets tail being annihilated as they enter Earth's atmosphere, the meteor shower in question is the "Perseids" and can be seen ( weather permitting) emerging from the constellation of Perseus.
This year is supposed to be a good year, where it should be possible to see up to 100meteors per hour (drat).
Oh, and did I mention that with it being a new moon, even city dwellers should be able to get some pleasure from watching the shower (double drat).
Well there's always next year.

fella, the dancing bacon was very good. Although I'd freak if my breakfast started shaking its funky thang before it was to be eaten.
We had a lightning storm instead, but I kept waking up thinking meteorites were blazing through my backyard.
Alas.
